RIDING ON THE WIND (Part One)
Today’s  Lesson
Prayer Point - Ask the Lord to move you and the Sunday school department forward this year by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Previous Knowledge -Teacher informs the classes of how many of the class goals were achieved during the previous year's Sunday school. Teacher sets new goals for the Sunday school for year 2011/2012.
1. Opening

A. BIBLE PASSAGE - Galatians 5: 13-26

B. Memory Verse: "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting." Acts 2:1-2

C. Lesson Introduction: The Holy Spirit will always be associated with the day of Pentecost. Pentecost will always be associated with the wind of God and the sovereign operation of the Holy Spirit. As we begin this series on the Holy Spirit, we shall talk about the wind as symbol of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord bless us as we study in Jesus' name.

TEACHER’S DIARY
A. Lesson Aim - To discover the benefits of riding on the wind of the Holy Spirit.

B. Teaching Objectives and Lesson Plan -

(i.) At the end of the lesson, students should be able to discover that the Holy Spirit is a powerful and reviving wind.
(ii.) They should also be able to discover benefits of riding in the powerful and reviving wind of the Holy Spirit.
To achieve the objectives, teacher explains with examples what happens when the Holy Spirit moves as powerful wind and the effects of such a move.
C. Text Review - Galatians 5: 13-26
Riding on the wind of the Holy Spirit means:

  1. Walking in the Spirit. Galatians 5: 16
  2. Living in the Spirit. Galatians 5:25
  3. Being led of the Spirit. Galatians 5:18
  4. Refusing to fulfil the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16
  5. Yielding the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22
  6. Living in love among ourselves instead of spiting one another. Galatians 5: 14, 26 . It is avoiding vain glory in its totality. Galatians 5:26
  1. Teaching Method - Teacher should use lecture teaching method.
  2. Time Management - Teacher should use15 minutes for opening, 30 minutes for Lesson Outline, summary, Conclusion and Assignment, then 15 minutes for General Review.
  3. Lesson Outlines

i. LESSON OUTLINE 1 - THE HOLY SPIRIT IS POWERFUL WIND

a. The Holy Spirit is a rushing mighty wind. Acts 2:1-2
b. Wind is part of God's treasures. Jeremiah 10: 13
c. The Holy Spirit manifested as breath of God in the creation and turned the clay-man into a living soul. Genesis 2:7
d. The Holy Spirit manifested in the valley full of dry bones and caused to resurrect a mighty army. Ezekiel 37: 4-10
e. He can blow over a land and heal such land provided the people can pray tirelessly in humility and righteousness. 2nd Chronicles 7:14, Luke 18:1; I Thessalonians 5:17
f. He can save whoever He chooses Romans 9: 14-16
g. Being sovereign, the Holy Spirit does as He pleases. Psalm 115:3, John3:8.

Class Activity 1 - Differentiate between the Holy Spirit as a mighty rushing wind from other rushing winds like tornado and tsunami.
ii. LESSON OUTLINE 2 - THE HOLY SPIRIT IS A REVIVING WIND

i. Riding on the wind of the Holy Spirit enables believers to pray without ceasing. I Thessalonians 5:17

ii. Riding on the wind of the Holy Spirit produces the intercessory utterance in the place of prayer. Romans 8:26.
iii. Riding on the wind of the Holy Spirit enables believers shake the foundation of fear of enemies and satanic oppositions and wiles through prayers. Acts 4:31
iv. Riding on the wind of the Holy Spirit brings strength and revival to believers particularly in the time of trouble. Psalm 138:3, 7

v. Riding the wind of the Holy Spirit is the sure way of obtaining absolute victory. Psalm 138:8

Class Activity 2 - Describe an imaginary believer who has no Holy Spirit wind to ride on.
Summary
The Holy Spirit is both powerful and reviving wind. Therefore, riding on this special wind produces believers who would be giants in prayer and champions in battle.

Conclusion
To remain an all-round Champion in the spiritual realm is to keep on riding on the wind of the Holy Spirit.

RIDING ON THE WIND (Part Two)
Prayer Point· Pray to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit today.
Previous Knowledge· Teacher reminds students what riding on the wind (Part 1) was all about. Teacher finds out whether or not students carried out their assignment for lesson 1. Teacher informs/reminds students the various meanings of riding on the wind of the Holy Spirit as presented under the Text Review for lesson 1.

1. Opening
A. BIBLE PASSAGE - Luke 11:9-13
B. Memory Verse – “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38.

C. Lesson Introduction: There are steps to guide us to receiving the Holy Spirit baptism. We also need to know the Baptiser and the evidence of being baptised in the Holy Spirit. These will be our focus in this study.

A. Lesson Aim - To discover how to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

B. Teaching Objectives and Lesson Plan -

i. At the end of the lesson, students should be able to understand how to receive the Holy Spirit.

Ii. They should also be able to discover the actual baptism, the baptiser and evidences of the baptism.
To achieve these objectives, teacher explains the requirement and procedures for receiving the Holy Spirit. Teacher also explains some evidences of receiving the Holy Spirit.
Teacher concludes by encouraging those who have not received the Holy Spirit to ask in faith to receive.
Teacher also encourages those who have received to ask in faith for fresh release of the Holy Ghost grace.

C. Text Review - Luke 11:9-13
i. The Holy Spirit gives until our cups run over.
ii.   He causes to find what has been lost. Be it joy or peace, be it opportunity or privileges; be it power or comfort. He makes believers recover. Recovery of lost health, glory benefits and grace and so on.
iii. The Holy Ghost opens great doors of divine treasures upon believers. Such treasures include divine gifts and fruit, doors of sound health and long life; doors of salvation and purity. Etc.
To enjoy this grace, however, believers must learn to ASK, SEEK and KNOCK until they receive.

D. Teaching Method – Teacher should use lecture teaching method.

E. Time Management -15 minutes for Opening; 30 minutes for Lesson Outline, Summary, Conclusion and Assignment; 15 minutes for General Review.

2. Lesson Outlines
i. LESSON OUTLINE 1 - HOW TO RECEIVE THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
The following steps will guide any sincere candidate for the baptism of the Holy Ghost: -

1. Be born again John3:3; Acts3:19.

2. Be desirous and thirsty for the baptism of the Holy Spirit - Psalm 37:4; Psalm 42:1; Isaiah 55:1

3. Believe that the promise of the baptism of the Holy Ghost is for you and all believers - Acts 2:33.
4. Identify the Lord Jesus Christ as the right source of the baptism in the Holy Ghost- Matthew3:11.
5. Have confidence also in His word, which will never fall to the ground but is forever settled in Heaven - John 7:37-39; Psalm 119:89.
6. Then ask Him and He will answer, "For every one that asketh receiveth; ..”­Luke11:10.
7. Praise and thank God in advance for your baptism because He is the giver of good gifts - James 1:17; I Thess. 5:18.

Class Activity 1- Discuss why some members of your class/church have not received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Suggest solutions to receive.
ii. LESSON OUTLINE 2 - THE ACTUAL BAPTISM, THE BAPTISER AND THE EVIDENCE.

  1. The Actual Baptism
  2. It is the baptism by fire. Matthew 3: 11; Luke 3: 16
  3. It is a baptism of power. Acts 1 :8a
  4.       It is a baptism of divine ability to do great exploit. Acts1:8b
  5.     The Baptiser
  6. Jesus is the Baptiser. He is the Author and Finisher of our faith. Matthew3:11
  7. The Holy Spirit gives the utterance. Acts 2:4
  8. The Evidence
  9. Divine ability to speak in other tongues. Acts 2:4b
  10. Divine ability to do great/greater works. Lk24:49; and Jn. 14:12
  11. Ability to give faithful and diligent services unto the Lord. Hebrews 12:1-2; 11:6
  12. Divine power overworks of the devil.
  13. The Procedure
  14. Come before His presence with a pure heart. Ps 66:18; 24:4.
  15. Worship Him with thanksgiving and praise. Psalm 100:4
  16. Ask, seek and knock in faith. Luke 11 :9-10
  17. Speak whatever He gives you as utterance (and they began to speak). Acts 2:4b; Acts 10:46a
  18.          Magnify God by thanking Him. Acts 10:46

Class Activity 2 - What do you think could hinder believers from receiving the Holy Spirit?      

Summary: You can be baptised by the Holy Spirit today if you sincerely ask Him.

Conclusion: The baptism in the Holy Ghost is for you to make you strong, ride high in God and be perfect as God intends you to be. If you are born again, then, ask for the baptism in the Holy Ghost and the Baptiser will do it now in Jesus' Name. Amen.
